CAS is the website for the College of Communication Arts & Sciences at Michigan State University. I was brought in with the title of "Web Strategist", and consulted on a variety of issues ranging from Usability and Accessibility, to Search Engine Optimization.
CAS was not a development project for me, but many hours were spent cleaning up HTML, and running validations to meet a University wide accessibility policy. CAS was built on top of a custom PHP-Nuke content management system, and I often acted as a liaison between client and vendor.
Other duties on the website included providing monthly seminars to staff about accessibility, and how to use the CMS. I also installed Google Analytics across the site, and can track each of the 5 departments separately, or all as one unit.
My work on CAS has increased my knowledge of semantic design, and the importance of clean code. I also improved my communication skills when it comes to explaining technical concepts to a non-technical audience.
